I am a Counselling Psychologist based in East London, South Africa, with a background in both Psychology and Social Work. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology (M.A.) and an Honours in Social Work (Hons.) from the University of Fort Hare.
I am fully registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF) and the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
My professional journey has been shaped by years of experience in the fields of addiction treatment, child and family welfare and university student supervision. These experiences have strengthened my belief in the resilience of people and the importance of providing a space where individuals feel heard, valued and supported.
Alongside this, I have also worked within a hospital setting, supporting individuals recovering from life-altering events. This work deepened my understanding of the emotional landscape that accompanies physical trauma—grief for lost abilities, fear of an uncertain future.
I aim to help individuals process these complex emotions, develop coping strategies, and reconnect with a sense of hope and personal strength as they navigate their recovery journey.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that each person’s journey is unique, and therefore the support they receive should be equally unique. I work from a person-centred foundation, creating a space where clients feel safe, respected and understood. This allows for genuine collaboration, where goals and pace are shaped according to each individual’s needs, circumstances and readiness.
While the relationship remains at the heart of my work, I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities to provide a flexible and effective therapeutic experience. These include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation and distress tolerance; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for addressing unhelpful thinking patterns; and psychodynamic principles to explore how past experiences influence present behaviour and relationships. I also incorporate Narrative Therapy to help clients re-author their personal stories, Gestalt Therapy to bring awareness to present-moment experiences, and Systems Theory to understand individuals within the context of their family, social and relational environments.
By integrating these approaches, I am able to tailor therapy in a way that honours each client’s individuality while offering practical tools, meaningful insight and a supportive environment for growth and change. My aim is to empower clients to better understand themselves, navigate challenges with confidence, and move toward healthier, more fulfilling lives.
